What Is It?
Limited edition giclee prints will shortly be available of selected exhibits, as well as the originals. This is an integral part of the package, making the art financially accessible to a broader cross-section of the clientele of each venue.
I'm An Artist. How would I benefit from joining?
We carefully select the
Artists
participating in our Contemporary Art Promotion
Programme to ensure that we showcase high-quality
new and emerging international Artists who
consistently produce challenging, creative,
individual and inspirational works of art as well
as fully established, mid-career Artists who wish
to concentrate more on their work than on the
distraction of self-representation. There is an
annual membership fee of £200.00 (inc.).
We would only accept your application if we feel
that we can place your work in a suitable
exhibition AT LEAST twice in any membership year.
In fact, we GUARANTEE to do just that. As an
Artist Member, you will be given opportunities to
feature at
exhibitions
around the UK that may not be available to you
otherwise, often with lower commission rates than
you would expect from the majority of mainstream
galleries. Exhibitions are an essential part of
the sales and career development of any artist
and every exhibition creates exposure, raising
profile.
As
a UK-based Artist Member, you would be encouraged
to identify suitable venues in your local area
and, if you introduce a venue that is accepted on
to the programme, we will guarantee that you will
be placed in the first exhibition at that venue.
You will also earn commission from all sales at
venues you have successfully introduced. This
means that you could earn an income from
exhibitions, without necessarily needing to sell
any of your own work. The long-term incentive for
you as an Artist Member is to introduce several
new venues, whilst retaining membership, so that
you benefit from sales at many different venues.
We can not offer this bonus to international
Artist Members at this time.
There
is an extensive
on-line Art Gallery
on this web-site which is included as part of the
Artist Membership scheme. The internet is an
increasingly important part of any artist's
marketing strategy and is becoming the standard
method for buyers, curators and dealers to
research and discover new artists.
I have a venue that might be suitable. How would I benefit?
If your application is accepted, you would benefit from the publicity & interest generated by the exhibition and, more specifically, the Preview Party. This could raise your profile & increase market awareness for your business. Ovenden Contemporary handles the promotion of the event but any contribution from you would only increase the benefits of the publicity.
The Preview Party can be arranged to coincide with a quiet period in your calendar, generating activity when you need it most. In addition, you would earn a commission on all original art sales that take place during your exhibitions. This commission rate increases with each membership renewal as a ‘loyalty bonus’, up to a maximum commission.
Do you like the sound of the 'Preview Party'?
The introducing Artist Member (if there is one) & the Venue Member are both encouraged to assist with the compilation of the guest list and the distribution of invitations for the Preview Party, as they will be more likely to have excellent access to the community in the area. We also encourage the other Artist Members that are selected to feature in the exhibition to attend the Preview Party, preferably with guests!
