Applications for Artist Membership

DUE TO OUR EVER EXPANDING EXHIBITION PROGRAMME, WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING APPLICATIONS TO JOIN OUR SUBSCRIPTION-BASED ART PROMOTION PROGRAMME, FROM ARTISTS WORKING IN ALL 2D MEDIA. WE ESPECIALLY REQUIRE PHOTOGRAPHY, ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM & NEW MEDIA DIGITAL ARTS ALTHOUGH ARTISTS FROM ALL GENRES WILL BE CONSIDERED. WE WILL ALSO CONSIDER APPLICATIONS FROM INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS WHO WISH TO ESTABLISH A CAREER IN THE UNITED KINGDOM.

Artist Applications

We carefully select the Artists participating in our Contemporary Art Promotion Programme to ensure that we showcase high-quality new and emerging Artists or well-established, mid-career Artists who consistently produce challenging, creative, individual and inspirational works of art.

Artists are required to apply for membership of the Art Promotion Programme and we would only accept your application if we feel that we can place your work in a suitable exhibition AT LEAST twice in any membership year. In fact, we GUARANTEE to do just that. We are now able to consider applications from Artists based outside UK.

The Membership Fee

The annual membership fee for Artists joining the Ovenden Contemporary Art Promotion Programme is currently:

£200.00 UK Sterling

'Real World' Exhibitions

As an Artist Member, you will be given opportunities to feature at exhibitions around the UK that may not be available to you otherwise, often with lower commission rates than you would expect from most mainstream galleries. Exhibitions are an essential part of the sales and career development of any artist and every exhibition creates exposure, raising your profile.

We organise, promote, curate, install and remove the exhibitions, produce, print and distribute invitation cards for Preview Reception events, produce, print and distribute catalogues where required and represent selected Artists from our portfolio at exciting Art Fairs around the country, such as The Great Art Christmas Fair at Alexandra Palace in London. We also endeavour to present exhibition proposals to municipal Galleries using our portfolio, whenever possible or appropriate.

In addition, as a UK-based Artist Member, you would be encouraged to identify suitable venues in your local area and, if you introduce a venue that is accepted on to the programme, we will guarantee that you will be placed in the first exhibition at that venue. This is an opportunity for you to increase the amount of exhibitions you are featured in during any membership year. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this benefit to Artist Members based outside UK, at this time.

Our Artists' Blog facility is also a great resource to our Members, providing direct access to a supportive and friendly group of Artist peers. It also acts as a noticeboard for opportunities such as competitions that we or our members have heard about.

Potential Income From Introductions

UK-based Artists could earn commission from all sales that take place at exhibitions hosted by Venue Members they have successfully introduced. This means that you could earn an income from exhibitions, without necessarily needing to sell any of your own work. The long-term incentive for you as an Artist Member is to introduce several new venues, whilst retaining membership, so that you benefit from sales at many different venues.

On-line Gallery Facility

We also have an extensive on-line gallery on this web-site that provides a great deal of 'editorial' information about each of our Artist Members and provides an effective sales and marketing tool. We offer our editorial-style content to a variety of other organisations, bringing traffic to our site and raising the profile of each of our Artist Members. This is included for FREE, as part of our Artist Membership scheme. We all know by now, the internet is an increasingly important part of any artist's marketing strategy and is becoming the standard method for buyers, curators and dealers to research and discover new artists.
